Currituck County, established around 1668, is the most northeastern county in North Carolina. USA Today described Currituck's wide, clean and beautiful beaches as "one of the best undiscovered beaches on the East Coast". Currituck in the Algonquin Indian language means "The Land of the Wild Goose". For centuries, hunting and fishing guides and clubs have operated in the abundant marshes, woods and open waters of Currituck, North Carolina. The Old Currituck County Courthouse and Jail are two of the oldest buildings in North Carolina.

One of the fastest growing counties in North Carolina, Currituck boasts a top-rated school system and a careful balance between the environment and development. Outstanding restaurants, marinas and boating facilities reside along the North Carolina Intracoastal Waterway. The Intracoastal Waterway is a treasure in restored colonial architecture and original lighthouses such as the Currituck Beach Lighthouse and the Lighthouse Keeper's House. Nineteenth century Hunting Clubs include the Currituck Hunting Club and the Whalehead Club. Renowned golf courses such as the Currituck Club, outstanding shopping and the attractions described above combine to make Currituck County North Carolina's "Land of Opportunity".
