Historic Elizabeth City, North Carolina has over 400 points of historic interest
listed in the National Register. In 1779, it was a ferry crossing; today,
Elizabeth City's revitalized waterfront boasts some of the finest restaurants,
shops and recreational opportunities in North Carolina.
Outer
Banks, NC
The famous sandy barrier islands of the Outer Banks of North Carolina are a
living lesson in ecology, beauty, history, and legends. The Outer Banks boasts
fishing, hunting, shopping, sightseeing, water recreation, marinas, charter
boats and golfing tournaments and courses.
Kitty Hawk, NC
Today, Kitty Hawk, North Carolina provides some of the best beach recreation and
resorts on the North Carolina coast, though it will always be known as the
birthplace of aviation. The actual 1903 flight by the Wright brothers took place
4 miles south of Kitty Hawk in Kill Devil Hills, North Carolina.
Nags Head, NC
Nags Head, North Carolina offers an abundance of beaches, world-class fishing,
golfing, shopping, nature trails, wildlife refuges, shipwreck remains and
historic sites. One can fish all day and all night from Nags Head Fishing Pier,
one of the oldest and longest fishing piers in the Outer Banks, North
Carolina.
Corolla, NC
Corolla is the home of many North Carolina cultural and historical treasures.
From the famed Corolla Wild Horses to the restored nineteenth century Currituck

Duck, NC
Duck, North Carolina was named for - you guessed it - the amazing number of
ducks and other waterfowl that once made their home in the area. In the
nineteenth century, before stringent wildlife protection laws become prevalent,
Duck was known for its Hunt Clubs, many of which are now restored attractions.
Kill Devil Hills, NC
Kill Devil Hills boasts outstanding restaurants, shopping, sports and
activities. Kill Devil Hills was visited by a young Robert Frost in 1894, who
would later write his moving "Kitty Hawk" about the fate of Aaron Burr's
daughter, Theodosia, off the coast of the Outer Banks.
Manteo, NC
Manteo was founded in 1899 and is considered by many to be the cultural,
commercial, and governmental center of Dare County. Approximately 6,000 people
live in the Manteo, North Carolina vicinity. Manteo boasts a restored waterfront
and the nearby Roanoke Island Festival Park, which hosts numerous activities and
cultural events.
Hertford, NC
One of the earliest permanent settlements in the New World, Hertford, North
Carolina was established in the 1600s. In 1759, Hertford was named for Francis
Conway, the Earl of Hertford.
Camden, NC
Camden County is a rural community in northeastern North Carolina. Camden
County's sounds, wetlands, rivers, and streams boast largemouth bass, spot,
croaker, and trout -- as well as flocks of geese and ducks that frequent the
marshes. Hunting, fishing and boating are the pastimes of Camden residents and
